A bit of advice
I thought I'd put something out there for the general community:
Be aware when you contact a small institution (be it commercial or cultural) that the person answering the telephone (especially in off hours) might not be just some bottom-of-the-office-food-chain nobody. Sometimes when you call a small place on a weekend or late in the afternoon, you manage to circumvent the regular secretaries and front desk workers (who work regular 9-to-5 hours and have gone home already) and you actually get directly through to somebody with some real authority.
So, with this in mind, it is probably not wise to get snippy, high-handed, or pushy with the person speaking to you. You might end up burning bridges with somebody it would have been nice to have on your side.
Enough said.

Two exciting finds and a realization
The first was this blog, "Grace Undressed." I totally owe a "tip of the hat" to Ginger for the steer in Grace's direction.
The second were photos like this, and this, and this (aw hell, just go to the slide show). It really brings it home that Sarkozy is... diminutive. It occurred to me that he's some kind of latter-day Napoleon, which was a thought I enjoyed because I felt it also rather aptly summed up his political ambitions.
And now, for the realization: I don't know why I abandoned this blog. I'm going to give it a more serious go... right after I get home from my marathon shift at work, compile my latest art talk, finish my novel, and lose those last 5 pounds.
